A fun anniversary week and more

In an early celebration of our 38th wedding anniversary, Tuesday night we went to High Cotton, one of the best restaurants in town and our favorite, for a five course food and wine paring.   The wines were from Merry Edwards who focuses on a couple very well know California wines.   It was an elegant, leisurely 3 hour  dinner with 6 other people at our table. In addition to great food and wine we had excellent lively conversations.  It was a great event and although expensive we thought it was worth the dining experience.

Below is the menu:

I went to my first Greenville Forward class which is an organization that has been making sure that Greenville stays on track with their Greenville 2025 plans.  Really, really interesting and a program that I have been following since I moved here.  I’m hoping to find a place for me to help in this important plan.

My car went dead so I had to wait for Bob to get home and got to my origami class a half hour late.  Should be fun.   Bob’s Elder Law class instructor got the flu so he didn’t have class this week.

We went to a new tax person and she found errors in our past 3 years taxes that I think will save us a great deal of money.  Yeah for  Diane Kilgore inTravelers Rest.   We both thought she was great.  We met her at the Travelers Rest Chamber of Commerce.

Also this week I got a much needed massage and Bob went to a router class at the Guild. We had lunch at the Commerce Club courtesy of Woodlands Retirement Community.  We are still a long time away from making another move but going to these presentations and visiting the facilities have taught us so much and brought up many more questions we have to find answers too.   I am SO glad we went.

Friday I was the hostess at Furman Farm for an OLLI class on organic and substainable gardening.  The instructor was excellent and taught me things and words I had never heard.   I think he is on the leading edge of what is happening in this field.   Furman for the last 4 years has had a garden to experiment with.  I even learned how to catch red worms.  Hint – think cornmeal.

We ended the day with our friends G. Ann and Al coming over for bbq chicken dinner with German potato salad, fruit and ice cream and cookies.   Al brought mojitos made with mint from his garden and G. Ann brought cookies.  After that we went to Furman for their annual Spring Dance Extravaganza.  This year they also had a couple singing numbers and a brass band at the end.   There were 15 dances from ballet, hip hop, stepping, Russian, classical, Spanish, African and East Indian.   The time flew by.   We had a delightful evening.

Nothing special planned for Sat. and Sunday.   Will practice my origami and tackle my mountain of ironing.
