I can’t believe what we have gotten done in less the the two weeks since we got furniture. We get window blinds on Monday and after that I will take pictures again to show you what it looks like. Bob has his drivers license already and is registered to vote but I needed a certified copy of our marriage license (the one signed by the minister is not good enough since 9/11) and that just came on Sat. and I couldn’t get to the registration place before it closed. I heard they were extending it but don’t know if that is true. We have our bank and new checks, a new phone number and I now have internet access with a Verizon wireless card. Bob has the same thing from ING so we are connected. Speed isn’t too bad and seems to be pretty reliable.
Weather has been beautiful. 55 at night and mid to upper 70’s during the day.
There has been a gas shortage in some areas because in Tennessee, NC and SC the gas comes from the oil refineries in TX that got hit with the hurricane a few weeks ago. Imagine driving down Hennepin Ave., or University Ave. or Snelling Ave. and seeing all the gas stations closed. It was creepy. If you went a little off the beaten path gas was available but I guess Atlanta has had really big problems.
Our favorite spot is the screened porch. We are out there all the time. After some wiring problems Bob has his new big screen (46 inch) tv hooked up with surround sound and I have a 22″ wall mounted tv in the family area and can get my CD music piped into the wall in the room and all of it is controlled in both rooms by infrared sensors. Way cool. The installers said this was pretty advanced for them. Security system is also hooked up so we feel really safe. Wait until you see the photo of the wiring to do this!
Last Saturday I was invited to a small coffee party and met a few of my neightbors. Everyone was really nice. We are also invited to another party on Oct. 25 so great way to meet people. Lots more on that later.
