On Friday we drove from Naples to just across the border into Georgia – 7 1/2 hours.  We stayed at a Hawthorn Hotel.  Not only was it a suite with a  king size bed and very nice pool and hot tub and breakfast, it also had a refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, microwave, sink, pots and pans and dishes.  More then we needed but we enjoyed a little pampering.  We did use the pool and hot tub.

On Sat. morning we drove about 4 hours to see our friends Lyn and Bob in Charleston.  Went to to the ocean for a little while with them and then had a beer at a little restaurant by the ocean.  They had neighborts over for a little happy hour and later on the two Bob’s made a delicious chicken dinner for us.

We left on Sunday by 10 a.m. and were home by 1:30.  Got the car emptied and were pooped.  We enjoyed a cool evening on the porch.  It is so wonderful not to have it hot and humid all the time!  The forecast here in Travelers Rest the next few days is the high 70’s during the day and low 60’s at night.  Perfect!   We are still putting stuff away and made a big run to the gorcery store to stock the refrigerator and pantry.  I had to go borrow coffee last night from the neighbors so we could have coffee this morning!  We will fill the hot tub tomorrow.

While we are really glad we had our adventure in FL we can agree with Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz – “There is no place like home”.
