Our host Lynn and Bob set such a beautiful table for Christmas. Thought you might enjoy seeing it.
Smoky has been pestering me to take this photo of him. He thinks he is so cute. This is his routine first thing every morning. It’s his favorite place to drink water as it drips out of the faucet.
Collard greens and black eyed peas follow up. Try as we might neither Bob or I could fall in love with collard greens and black eyed peas. We gave each half a dozen tastes but just didn’t bond with the flavors. This photo shows you how big collards are. I think I prepared them properly but I think that you acquire the taste for them when you grow up with them. By the way, I was warned that collards have quite an aroma when you cook them. They weren’t kidding. A little like cabbage but about 10 times stronger. Had to air out the house! I’m not discouraged and w ill continue to try the new Southern foods.
Here is Bob looking very handsome in his dress up clothes for a party we went to on New Years night.
Hope your New Year is off to a good start. It should be 60 here today. Going to health club this afternoon and working on putting away holiday decorations. Bob is building drawers for our two workbenches. I turned a pen yesterday. Definitely had gotten rusty on my turning skills. Ham and homemade mac and cheese for supper tonight.
New years resolutions for Fay include
- continuing the health club water aerobics 2-3 times a week
- drink more water
- do some creative (art, turning, painting, crafts ) activity twice a week
- tai chi at home twice a week
- make better use of my time on the computer
- continue to meet new people and learn new things to keep those brain cells active
- make two vegetarian dinners a month
Bob said he would like to completely make two dinners by himself for us twice a month. They don’t have to be fancy but give Fay a break from cooking. We will look for a new cookbook for him. He also is ready to put to use all those woodworking tools he got to build things. Yippie!
Smoky and Sabrina resolve to make Fay let them outside, even if on as leash while we wear a harness.
