Life Part Two

The adventures of Fay and Bob as they move beyond the 9 to 5 life

Snow, sleet, icy rain

Woke up to everything covered with about 4 inches of snow with maybe up to 9 inches in our area before it is done.  This storm is hitting a huge part of Georgia and North and South Carolina and these states aren’t prepared to handle this much snow.  I really feel sorry for Atlanta.  For a city of over a million they have 17 plows and 11 sanding trucks.   Pretty much after the main highways are done you just wait for Mother Nature to melt the rest.  Although no fun, snow isn’t the big problem.  Sleet and icy rain predicted tonight and that means  downed power lines.   In 2005 the power here was off for 5 DAYS or more. Let’s hope there is not a repeat of that.

We have plenty of food, and the  gas fireplace could heat the house and we have our gas grill for cooking.  We also have a backup generator and a house specially wired for the generator. We picked up gas yesterday so should it get really bad we will be fine.  Only trick will be figuring out the sequence of how we turn our breaker switches off and on. If we loose power  for too long we do have to make sure we keep the hot tub water circulating or we will have broken pipes there.

No newspaper was delivered this morning and I won’t be surprised if there is no mail delivery.   Bob already cleaned off our TV dish so we  are set for awhile.   Getting ice off it is a little harder.  Sabrina likes sitting in the window watching the white stuff come down.

  1. Welcome to Minnesota, Fay,
Same crappy weather lingers out here. It was so icy this morning that Lollie could hardly make it to work around the accidents.
    Unsympathetically,
    Cousin Larry
