I think I have mentioned before that Smoky is our very curious cat. Open a drawer and he crawls in, put out something new and he finds it right away. Last week I went to get something out of our freezer and as soon as I opened the freezer door he hopped in. I have to watch carefully when I pull open the bottom freezer drawer on our refrigerator because he crawls behind it in the blink of an eye. I don’t know how a cat with such a big tummy can move so fast.
Last night when we went to bed we called Smoky and couldn’t find him but that’s not real unusual. Cats come when they want to, not when you call them. Bob fretted about it all night and got up early (7:30 a.m.) to go look for Smoky. He checked the garage, downstairs, outside and no Smoky. Finally he opened the door to the kitchen pantry and there was Smoky looking up at him. Smoky never meows so it isn’t unusual we don’t hear from him. I don’t think he was to worried about getting out but I am surprised that Sabrina wasn’t outside the door playing footsie with him. Batting each others feet under the door is a favorite playtime for them. That’s what usually happens when a door is shut and there is a cat on either side. Maybe that’s what they did while we were asleep.
What happened is on my way to bed, between 10 and 11 I got the munchies and wnet to the pantry for a cracker. Only the light over the stove was on and I nevers saw Smoky. Poor kittty! Guess we have to do a closet and pantry check before we leave the house or goto bed. He seems just fine so no post tramatic stress for him. Just maybe he got some extra treats so Fay and Bob felt better.
Sabrina has several knick names – Blackie, Brina, Chirp (for the funny sound she makes) and now we have one for Smoky. He loves to lay on his back and get his big soft belly rubbed so now we call him Jelly Belly. That’s just what his belly is like, soft and wiggly like jelly. Smoky and his Jelly Belly.
