Only good news. The bird was still alive this morning so that is good. Last night after I posted my problem on a Facebook page for Wildlife Rehab of Greenville, I got a call from Wendy. I took the bird over to her this afternoon. It looks like it has an injured eye so maybe that is why it is hard for it to fly very far. She has a couple ideas for treatment so all in all I think it is a pretty good outcome for the pretty little red bird. I didn’t know what I would find this morning and I am much relieved that it is in good hands. I kept it warm and out of danger and that’s about all I could do.
Myself and two of my readers and their friends think it is a summer tanager so that mystery is solved. They are in this area but I have never seen one before or I might have and without looking close just guessed it was a cardinal.
