Life Part Two

The adventures of Fay and Bob as they move beyond the 9 to 5 life

My Light at the End of the Tunnel book update

Here is the backgound story.  Many of you probably don’t know that in 2005 I wrote a book with my mother-in-law Helen about her life.   The book is called My Light at the End of the Tunnel, The journey from abandoned child and abused wife to a loved woman.   She has had quite an interesting life.   You can read details at

My Light at the End of the Tunnel

We printed a couple thousand books and now they are all gone.  Now eight years later there are new publishing avenues that didn’t exist when the first book was done  so I have been thinking about updating the book with what has happened to Helen in the last years and publishing it as a print on demand book and a Kindle type book.  For the last several months  I have been learning about and working with, a division of Amazon.

I am extremely excited to say that this afternoon I successfully finished a new cover and have all of the old book into the new book format and most important, my formatting was accepted.   I was really worried about getting the right formatting.   Although I hit a few snags it was much easier than I expected.  Now Helen and I can write the new content and I already have a very good idea what that will be.   My goal is to have it done well before her 91st birthday in October.   I told Helen about it a few weeks ago and she was quite surprised and delighted.  I didn’t want to tell her until I had worked with the new format and knew I could do it.  I will admit that I am pretty proud of myself.   I don’t expect to sell a lot of books but I really want to make her story easily available to others.   It is quite inspirational.

  1. I would like a copy of the revised book. I would also like a copy of the original one. I thought I had one but have not be able to find it. Becky (Hoover) Warner

    • There are only a handful of the original books left but I will save one for you. The next one won’t be ready for a few months so be patient. Nice to hear from you. How is your dad?
